The Tron blockchain platform and the Huobi cryptocurrency exchange start accepting applications for participation in the fourth season of the Grand Hackathon on February 1. Developers who impress the judges with promising blockchain solutions and decentralized applications (dapps) will be able to win $500,000.
The fourth "HackaTron" will allow developers to take part in six different activities (tracks), including a new activity dedicated to returning participants and another that encourages green-minded blockchain initiatives.
The new Builder track is for projects returning to the hackathon that are still developing on the Tron network and have made significant updates to their project.
The fourth season also includes a new track, Eco-Friendly, which encourages members to join Tron's efforts to support the environment and protect the environment through the Tron Climate Initiative.
On four more tracks, which were also presented during previous Tron hackathons, participants will be able to present their developments in such areas as decentralized finance (DeFi), Web3, non-fungible tokens (NFT) and GameFi (Play-and-earn).
As part of the DeFi track, developers are invited to find innovative solutions to increase the availability of financial services for people around the world, and the goal of the Web3 track is to find projects that can speed up the World Wide Web on a decentralized track.
Applications for participation in the hackathon are open from February 1 to April 15, and the winners will be announced on May 15.
As with previous seasons, one set of winners is chosen by a panel of judges and another set by the community forum. Each category will have its own prizes.
The winners will share a prize of $500,000 in USDD, the native stablecoins of the Tron blockchain pegged to the value of the US dollar. There will also be a chance to receive investments from Tron DAO Ventures and Huobi Ventures. Huobi, the sponsor of the event, will also provide the winners with priority listing on the Huobi.com exchange.
This season also includes three bonus prizes for the best performance for increased involvement in the project, for determination and contribution to the development of the community.
